Events reasearch

For my event research I will be talking about Nass which is a 4 day camping Festival in Bristol that I went to this year.

The audience demographic for this particular festival is aimed towards people of any age, However I personally think this Festival appeals to more teenagers and young adults, this is because the genre of music at the Festival is more drum and bass and there is also lots of different skateparks in the Festival where people can ride and where lots of different competitions take place. this also means lots of professional BMX's and skaters will be competing at the Festival which would generally be more noticed by the younger generation. The audience at this Festival especially in the camping area were quite roudy and loud which is expected for this type of Festival.

This event started on the 11th of July 2019 this was an important peice of information because

before the Festival started this date would of needed to be confirmed so that people would know when booking tickets to the festival, the date and what time it started so that they can make sure they are available for the event and can get there for it.

The event was promoted through various social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and their official website as well as using posters which had the line up of artists preforming, street art, and skate and BMX events going on, they have also started selling early bird tickets for the Nass Festival 2020 which is also good promotion for the festival as people can make sure they have a secure place at the festival early on and there is a lot of time for people to find out about their next festival.

Some of the staff roles of the event were security for the Festival this was so that people coming into the festival weren't bringing illegal substances in or anything they weren't

supposed to be taking into the festival, there was also police walking around incase of any fights or for if anything suspicious was going on. There was a hut where medics were situated, incase any incidents happened at the festival especially with the skateparks there were going to be more accidents than normal so people knew where to go. There were lots of stalls there selling clothes, chargers, toiletries, food/drinks act so there needed to be staff on the stalls at all times the festival was going on. other roles at the festival were cleaners of the toilets and showers and staff directing artists and professional skaters and BMX's where to go, as well as techs to sort out the audio and screening of competitions and the set up for artists.

Financial aspects of this Festival firstly were the sales of the tickets to the festival especially because this festival was on for 4 days more people wanted to pay extra to get the camping pass and VIP entry.

Stalls at the Festival especially the portable charger stall, food and alcohol stalls would have made a lot of business as people camping at the festival would most likely of bought food around 3 times a day and when peoples phone died they would of needed it charging so they could get in contact with others. The extortionate prices for these necessaries meant you would have to pay for it. They also had barbers there where you could get your hair cut during the festival which was a good idea and successful to males who wanted to get their hair cut. lastly they had rides at the festival which would have also made a bit of money.

I feel this event was very successful personally, the artist that were playing were well known and enjoyable to listen to there were also a mix of different music going on at the main stage for people that didn't want to listen to the drum and bass DJs. The competitions were also very enjoyable to watch and had a mix of female and male professional BMX's and skaters competing. there were also lots of graffiti boards all over which was fun to get a picture in front of.

I feel that their are still a few things that could be improved such as the size of the tents, for some acts it took hours queuing to get into a tent where it was very cramped and by the time you got in the artists set would have finished. I also think that their needed to be more showers in the camping site as they were hard to find and there wasn't as many which resulted in big ques again.

overall this was a very good Festival to go to and I will be defiantly be attending again.
