Practical Work

Overall, For our Event as a group we decided firstly to create a rewind night where we will have DJs performing different music from the 90s.

We looked at different venues around worthing that would best suit our venue such as Coast cafe, Escape bar and grill and Bar 42.

Incase these places didn't work out we would look into different pubs or a different area such as Brighton. Secondly we contacted Coast Cafe as we all decided that this place would be best for a 90's night as the venue holds lots of different types of events.

However, after contacting Coast they explained to us that it would cost approximately £200 to hire out the venue and bar which as a group we found would be too much to afford. After realising this we contacted Bar 42 and organised a meeting to discuss the venue.

Furthermore, we created a logo and name for our group so that we could make social media accounts under the company name which we decided was going to be called Vibes Events, and continued on thinking of more ideas for what our event is going to be.

Once going to the meeting at Bar 42 we arranged a day for our event which is the 6th of February from around 8:30-10:30 which helped us move forward with our practical work.

I then created a poster for our event which has the information and the location of the event and a bold title named Rewind night, I made the poster vibrant and added lots of symbols of what our night will include.

In addition, we created a Facebook event page and invited people we thought would be intrested in our night, as a group we came to a conclusion that we would each post on the page each day for a week to keep the audiance intrested and to gather ideas on what they would like to see on the night of our event.

We also created an Instagram page where we are going to post all of our Events onto so that we can promote our work.

Lastly, we printed out posters and flyers so that we can post them around the college and other places around Worthing to get a wider range of people to come to the event.

Graphic Designs:

I made sure that the Logo was colourful and subtle so that it gave the feeling of summer and happiness but not too colourful so that it was harsh to look at.

For the poster I used more bold colours as the Event is a 90's theme I wanted to give the feeling of fun and laughter. I added a bold font for the title as this will be one of the first things the audience will read which is the name of our Event.

Promotion:

We have created as a group this Facebook Event page, in which we used our poster as the header picture and added a description of what the event is going to be. We also added the location of the Venue so the audience knows where to go on the day. This event page is very useful to us as it shows how many people are going and are interested in going to our event, it also is a good way to engage with these people and find out what they would like to see on the day so we can plan for it in advance.

For the first week we have taken turns and added to the page with images and comments such as asking people if they are going to dress up, who they are going to bring with them, promoting our DJ and other questions such as asking what songs they want to hear on the night to keep people interested and get the audience involved with our planning. Secondly, we left the page for a week so that we didn't pester people too much and they wouldn't loose interest, for the 3rd week we started posting again with countdowns and updates of what we have decided to do for the event for example we decided to have a break in the middle for open mic.

We started on making a website for our groups company 'Vibes Events' this will be helpful to us as we can start to build a portfolio to direct people to, this will show them events we have done previously and tell them about us individually. I found a design that matches the colour theme of our logo which makes the website overall colourful but professional at the same time. However, if I were to do this again would get the website finished so that we can promote the website along with our Rewind night and have links to FB anf Instagram.

I created an Instagram page purposly so that we can post all of the posters for our events on this page to reach a wider audience. This business account is useful as it shows how many people have visited the page and how many people have saved or shared the event. However, I think the page needs more promotion so that we can gain more followers to see what I post.

I have also posted our rewind night on several different websites to try and get as much promotion for our Rewind night as possible.

I posted on our Vibes Event Instagram page just reminding people how long was left to the event I also added about what time DJs are going to be playing for and other activities we have going on.

I also posted a status on our Facebook page giving people a heads up again of timings, open mic/song requests and a few songs that are going to be played so that the audience will be interested and kept informed.

We decided on making a picture frame by sticking tin foil around it to make it shiny and stand out and adding 90's themed pictures around it. We will then take it to the event so that we can put it up for people to take pictures with, This is a good idea as it means we are getting the audience involved.

I also made a Spotify playlist with different genres of 90's music to send to the DJ to give them an idea of what I want to be played on the night of the event.
