Planning

Escape room:

For my Event on MET Fest I planned on doing an apocalypse themed Escape rooms. I spoke to Megan who works on Escape rooms in Brighton and she said to plan it all out and have another meeting with her. I then found a room upstairs in one of the Drama rooms that had easy access from the car park and was mostly empty so it could be easily decorated. I  then found out from admin when the room would be available so that I could to go and test out equipment and blacking out the windows. I then emailed Terry and Donna to see if I could use this room for MET Fest and have a meeting with her. I also planned on having red lighting to give the room a better atmosphere so I spoke to Steve Lewis to see if I could get lights in the room but then later decided it would be easier and better to get a lamp with a red light bulb as it would again make the atmosphere more realistic. I then started making a realistic sound track on logic to be played in the room with sounds of phones beeping, doors being closed and old pianos being played. I also spoke to Charlie about getting a sound system so that I could play these sounds in the room. I then thought about getting people to help me with setting this project up and having students acting  and telling a story line to participants and being in the room on the day of MET Fest to give clues and make sure people are doing what they are supposed to. I agreed to help Frank a student on my course with his project by making posters when he needs them and he would help me set up my escape room. Furthermore I planned on getting fabric from Textiles at college and paint the fabric with red writing and hand prints to fit with the apocalypse theme. Lastly I planned on getting props from charity shops and visiting Escape rooms to give me ideas on what kind of puzzles to make and what other equipment I would need. Because of the Coronavirus Pandemic I have had to result in cancelling these ideas and looking at creating an online escape room.

Online Event:

For my online Event I have looked at various different websites to give me ideas on the different things I could do. Firstly for my online event I wanted to carry on with my Escape room idea by creating my own Escape room game however, when looking at different websites and testing it out I realised that most of the websites were not practical and it was quite difficult to understand how it worked so I then thought I would look at doing a different event. Secondly I looked at a website called Zeno Radio and decided that I could set up my own radio station and get people I know to play on this radio station. I then created a logo design for my radio station on Canva and found a name for the station which is Resonant Radio, I decided to call it this because it was catchy and resonant is another word for a deep vibrating sound. I also looked online to make sure that there was no other Radio station with this name which I don't think there was. For my graphic design I wanted it to be simple and eye catching at the same time so I added a music symbol to show what the purpose of the design is about and a simple font with the radio name below it in white so it stood out against the background. For the background I chose for it to be black with colourful smoke as it is simple but professional and eye catching. On the side of this I had been contacted by another student from my college on Soundcloud and he expressed how he wanted to do a collaboration with me on a house track which I agreed to do. I also thought that this could be used as part of my project in some way too as I could play it on my Radio station and a Podcast with him and ask questions to do with music and the finished track. He sent me part of a track he has started which I am going to look at and see if I can add anything to it, I have also started my own house Track which I am also going to send to him and hopefully we can mix these together to make a finished track.

Radio station:

For my radio station I have contacted various DJs and asked them if they are able to record a set of them DJing for about 30mins or an hour with the music of their choice and download their set to mp3 so that they can send me the recordings for me to put it onto the radio station. I have chosen to do it this way and not live so that I know for sure I will have the DJ recordings and so people can do a set in their own time. This also gives me time to create a poster and a set time for the event to post it on my social media platforms so people can tune in at the right time. Furthermore I started of by asking my auntie if she can do a set in which she tested it out of Facebook live this went well and was a good way to see how live sets work however, she wasn't able to download a set to mp3 as she couldn't figure out how to do this and her computer wouldn't let her download the software to record. I then asked some other DJ I knew from my college to see if they were able to record a set and if they knew how to download it to mp3 in which I got a few responses of people that had sets already downloaded that I can use and people that were happy to record a new DJ set for me.

Promoting Resonant Radio:

After I had contacted various DJs I finally received a few DnB mixes from students at Northbrook College which were downloaded to mp3 and that I could use on my radio. Once this was finalised and I knew the DJ mixes worked on my laptop I began making a poster to then promote my radio station. I used Canva to create a poster that had an eye catching title with the right information of when I was going to put the radio station on air and the names of the DJs that helped me in producing a mix for me to use. I then updated my Vibes events website with this poster and information for the event as well as a button link that takes people to my radio. Furthermore I also posted this onto my Vibes events Instagram page and tagged the DJs in it so they got promotion from this too, I also put my website link in the bio as when I tried to put the radio link on there Instagram wouldn't recognise it. Lastly I created an events page on my facebook with the radio link in the description which worked and shared it onto my personal Facebook and on personal story on Instagram and Snapchat to get my friends to tune in when it is on air.
